TAPPestry Conference

On February 18th, Weisinger Law Firm had the privilege of participating in the Tappestry Conference, a conference for teachers, administrators, parents and professionals focusing on caring for and educating individuals with special needs. This yearly conference offers individuals and families the opportunity to network with other care providers, meet other families and learn about some of the amazing services available in San Antonio for the special needs community.

There were numerous breakout sessions available to the attendees covering a wide range of topics such as financial literacy for the family of the child with special needs, understanding graduation requirements for individuals receiving special education, behavior interventions, bullying and so much more.  The theme of this year’s conference was “Creating a Culture of Empowerment,” focusing not only on empowering the caregivers and educators but also the individual with special needs. The goal of the organizers was that attendees leave with more knowledge and having been affirmed that they have the courage to face any additional challenges ahead of them while educating and caring for an individual with special needs.

For our firm, the conference is a great opportunity to get to know the many other organizations in San Antonio that have services available to the special needs community. This year I learned more about a new private school created entirely for the educating the child with special needs, I met a military veteran with a background in martial arts who works directly with the special needs community and I chatted with countless advocates and educational service organizations all available to answer questions and offer guidance to the amazing families in attendance. If you are a parent, caregiver or service provider to the special needs community, this conference is a great opportunity to learn more about the incredible number of organizations out there offering services to the special needs community. Be sure to stop by our table next year and check out our new banner and grab some candy of course!
